PHP in templates is so last decade

Dean Allen, R.I.P.

Oliver

Dean Allen, the father of Textpattern, has passed away.

Raise a glass

Personally, I never met Dean nor had any interaction with him via email or on the forums. When I came upon Textpattern in 2005, Dean was exiting stage left.

This weekend, I bought a bottle of Jameson and polished it off in Dean’s name.

Hello world!

Creativity cannot be cubicled, it either flows or it doesn’t.

In 2001, Dean went on a coding rampage, a 24/7 romp in PHP/MySQL land because he felt an itch. When he finally decided to let it loose on the web, the result was Textpattern and Textile.

Textpattern powers all of my dynamic sites, and will till the end of my time.

Goodbye

Thank you Dean, rest in peace.

Dean Allen

Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow’s out of sight
Lord, it’s bad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
