PHP in templates is so last decade
Got myself an early Xmas present, a dedicated server.
Spent 12 years at DreamHost, I have no complaints, I just outgrew my VPS with the cross references, and I wanted root access to keep away the script kiddies.
We’ve been emailing back and forth since I got back, but I couldn’t work a deal with them. Shame, cause it’s drop dead simple to administer your websites using their control panel.
Location: New York (US)
Type of the server blade: Supermicro 5038ML-H24TRF >>
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1265L v3 4c/8t 2.50-3.70GHz >>
RAM: 2 × 8GB Hynix DDR3 UDIMM 1600MHz ECC >>
Storage: 1 × 1TB Seagate ST91000640NS 7200RPM >>
Bandwidth: 300Mbit/s Unmetered
OS: Debian 10.0 64
Right now I’m on PuTTY having a blast looking over my new server, I have complete control, awesome.
My home dev environment matches what my server runs, Debian 10 “Buster”, so it’s going to be very easy to implement changes locally, then when I’ve tested it thoroughly, I can apply the changes to the server.
Root access, screw those people coming in looking for wp-login, are they gonna get a rude awakening.
Was looking for some sizeable disk space and I got lucky with the config I was able to procure. I can upload all the cross references I want, and not to mention my vast porn collection.
Feels like old times, a server of my own, to do what I please.
We, local talent has entered the chat, are looking at acquiring new domain names for the project that I now call TXP CMS.
The association with Textpattern, we feel, is a hindrance.
Under the new domains, all the TXP content will be moved over, this blog, the Themes, the txp:tags, etc.
The TXP domains will live on redirecting traffic to the new domains.
That’s another reason for the added disk space, I plan on offering hosting, but no WordPress.
Been doing some research on Internet Content Blocking, and I think I got a plan in place to stop any and all wp- URLs from getting through.
That means the cross references will not be bothered by script kiddie traffic, and the added bonus, neither will any of the sites I host.
Overture, curtain, lights
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtain, lights
This is it, we’ll hit the heights
And oh what heights we’ll hit
On with the show this is it
